Most calendars organize time by month. This one organizes time by the Moon.
Each row represents one lunar cycle of about 29.5 days, with the New Moon aligned in the same column across every row. This makes it easy to see the repeating pattern of lunar phases and how they fall on a steady, predictable rhythm.
What becomes obvious in this layout is how the standard calendar month drifts against the lunar cycle. The first of each month (marked with a letter) lands in a different spot from row to row, shifting a little further each time. The Moon does not care about January or February. It follows its own cycle, and our calendar months simply slide around it.
